The colonists felt they had to declare their independence for many reasons. But the main reason they felt that way is because they were treated unfairly by the British. The British king would tax them in many ways. Including the sugar act that would tax the colonists for eating items that had sugar. The stamp act was also an unfair law that was passed by parliament. Another reason they wanted to declare their independence is because British passed laws to punish the Massachusetts colony, the colonists called these laws the intolerable acts.

The second continental congress was the most imoprtant because 56 representatives signed the first deceleration of Independence that they swered their soul and scared hanor. In that part they declared themselves Independent.
